The Abyssinian cat breed is a medium-sized pet with finely formed muscles and a long body. An active cat who usually loves to play and jump, the Abyssinian’s (also known as Abys ) fur has bands of colors that offer her depth and richness.

The Abyssinian is a fine-boned, slender, medium-sized cat with a fairly wedge-shaped head. From the muscular build to the almond-shaped eyes to the small oval feet, the large ears to the large thin tail, and the shiny and short coat, the Abyssinian is a supermodel among cat breeds.

History:

The Abyssinian is known as a breed that traces its ancestry directly to the Nile Valley, in fact, it originated in Great Britain. A cat named Zulu was brought to Britain by Lord Robert Napier after a military campaign in Abyssinia in the 1860s. Today it is known as Abyssinian. One popular theory states that the breed developed in ancient times, perhaps dating back to ancient Egypt. While some suggest that the Abyssinian breed resembles cats depicted in ancient Egyptian art. However, it did not come from Egypt at all.

Originally:

It appears that Abyssinian is one of the oldest cat breeds. Originating from the South East Asian and Indian Ocean regions, the first of these cats were imported to the UK and got their name from Egypt. In 1871, they first appeared in the United Kingdom at the Crystal Palace and seem to have been brought back to Britain after the departure of British troops from Abyssinia in the year 1868.

Abyssinians are first and foremost family allies. Even though they are not meant to guard responsibility, they still stand a chance of forming loving and strong relationships with their owners. Characterized as extremely playful and loyal, this is a cat breed that will demand owners who are home most of the time.
